International Children's Rights Day
The Children’s Rights Day is commemorated on the 20th November. That day on 1989 the United Nations passed the Children’s Rights Convention, which meant a change on the consideration of children as active subjects with full rights.
This international change on the conception of the children, which we share, must be celebrated: so, the esplais of Esplac organize several activities with the aim to share this step forward and spread these rights to the citizens.
The activities are normally the result of the coordination of the esplais of the same Geographical Sector and last one day.
Monifesta't! Youth leaders' meeting
The Youth leaders’ meeting is a joint activity of Esplac which started in 2002 with the first Monifesta’t in Vilafranca del Penedès. During a weekend, the youth leaders of the esplais members of Esplac have the chance to meet and exchange experiences or participate in debates, discussions and other training activities. In the last years the growth of Esplac has resulted in the increase of the organizational complexity of this activity. Therefore, we have decided to promote annual meetings for the youth leaders who belong to the same Geographical Sector and have a general meeting of Esplac every three years.
Campaign “The esplais do the summer"
In summer the children have a lot of free time and the esplais develop the end-of-course activities. In July and August the esplais activity is frantic: camps (with tents), colònies (in country houses), trekking routes, summer school (daily leisure-time activities during the week), international exchanges, etc. Each esplai organizes the activities according to the characteristics and the needs of the groups of children.
Esplac helps the esplais to prepare these activities and we set them within a global campaign called “The esplais do the summer”. This way, the esplais can have access to subsidies, training, didactic material and they benefit from a joint communication campaign.
General Meeting
The General Meeting of Esplac is probably the most emblematic activity as it gathers all the member esplais, their children, youth leaders and parents. Approximately 3,000 people meet for a weekend to share training and leisure activities. The General Meeting has been always celebrated every two years but since 2000 it is organized every three years. In line with the General Meeting, the esplais belonging to the same Geographical Sector organize every year their respective meetings. The last General Meetings of Esplac have taken place in Terrassa (2009), Manresa (2006), Arenys de Mar (2003), Vilanova i la Geltrú (2000), Castellterçol (1998), Sabadell (1996), Vilafranca del Penedès (1994), Barcelona (1992) and Fontmartina (1990).
Leader's group weekend training
It is aimed at the leaders (director, responsible person, etc.) of the esplais and/or members of the leaders’ team of Esplac. It is hold once a course and it lasts a weekend.
